Hard at work with lots of gagets Posted by Hello

Stop laughing...this is serious!!!!!!!

I'm looking at my computer at the moment and thinking where will all this end! I have always tried to keep up with technology but it is accelerating beyond anything I and others thought it would (I remember a computer teacher in Lithgow with years of experience solomnly telling me that the biggest computers will get is 400mb).

I find computers big toys which I can pull apart and have fun with but hey when do we get serious? My poor box which was brand new less then 2 years ago now has every USB port with something in it, there are wires running around the computer and over to the spare bed - that's were the tape deck (remember them) lives at the moment and yes I'm playing with digitalising anologue tapes. I'm running out of room on the actual desk as opposed to the desktop (where I'm also running out of room). The 60 gbs from 2003 is full(even the insides of the computer is packed out!) and I now have a 300gb external hard drive ready to be filled. I also have an external DVD burner and external soundblaster sound card. I have a microphone plugged in and stereo speakers. And then there's a flash drive also sticking out of the box - that has my work files. So everything is pretty crowded in here. And then there is the power problem - I need 16 power points to run everything - when I start up light dim from Lapstone to Lithgow.

It sounds like I have everything under control, doesn't it? So why am I laughing hysterically?????

It's to do with time! I really don't know how everything works. I spend hours working out the smallest problem - like if I have the F: drive and soundcard turned on at the same time and I reboot the computer, the computer flashes at me, freezes and won't do anything! You may think that this could be easily solved by designating a drive letter forever to one or the other, so I have to learn how to do this and it goes on and the hours tick away and I turn the computer on and off until I am happy with this. BUT, my partner after watching my progress and ignoring my instructions on the new ritual of turning the computer on and off says, "I haven't time for this!" And I realised I don't either which has brought me to my present state!

I have to create a blog for the start-up group! A what....! Hey they have instructions! If I just start here...
